QuantumCT Launches Community Impact Pilot Program at Waterbury City Hall
QuantumCT announced the launch of a new Community Impact Pilot Program aimed at accelerating public understanding and workforce readiness in quantum technologies. The pilot initiative will offer financial awards to nonprofits, business organizations, and community groups developing programs to foster quantum awareness, education, and job training across the state.
At the program’s announcement, Daniel O’Keefe, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development encouraged all communities to engage with the state’s growing quantum ecosystem. The program reflects the belief that quantum technologies are not just for a select few — they represent a future of opportunity for everyone.
“Quantum technologies will reshape industries and economies — and we want to ensure that Connecticut residents are empowered to take part in that future,” said Saranda Belica, UConn’s Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives. “While quantum concepts can seem complex, the reality is that many of the roles emerging in this new economy will require accessible, teachable skills. This initiative is about taking real, practical steps to ensure Connecticut residents have the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to pursue quantum-related careers as they emerge.”
The program is designed to bring communities into the conversation early and create pathways to opportunity through collaboration, education, and workforce development. QuantumCT is inviting partners and organizations to help identify what their stakeholders need to be prepared — whether it’s training, awareness-building, or access to resources.
