QuantumCT is pleased to announce the appointment of Albert M. Green, Ph.D., as its inaugural President and Chief Executive Officer. QuantumCT is a bold public-private partnership aimed at positioning Connecticut at the forefront of the emerging quantum economy.
A successful physicist and entrepreneur, Dr. Green has over 30 years of experience at the intersection of technology, innovation, and corporate leadership, making him the ideal leader to drive QuantumCT’s mission forward.
As the founder and managing partner of AMG Consulting Group, Dr. Green guided startups in business strategy and technology commercialization. He co-founded Mid-America Applied Technology Corporation, where he led efforts to secure federal contracts and advance dual-use technologies. Earlier in his career, Dr. Green led advanced materials and nanotechnology initiatives at Science Applications International Corporation, overseeing multimillion-dollar government contracts and pioneering cross-disciplinary research in emerging technologies.
“Connecticut is uniquely positioned to be a leader in quantum innovation, with its top-tier academic institutions and strong entrepreneurial ecosystem providing a solid foundation for attracting talent and investment,” Dr. Green says. “The state is already home to industry leaders advancing quantum technologies, creating a dynamic environment for collaboration and commercialization. I am thrilled to join this effort, and I look forward to working with our partners to create new opportunities for businesses and communities throughout the state.”
As the CEO of Kent Displays, Dr. Green led the transformation of a university-developed liquid crystal technology into the ‘Boogie Board’ brand, revolutionizing the way people take notes. Additionally, Dr. Green transformed the company from a research and development-focused licensing company to a product-focused consumer packaged goods company with a global supply chain, marketing and distribution, achieving over $200 million in worldwide sales and growing the company’s revenues by 20 times.
“In Dr. Albert M. Green, QuantumCT has a gifted scientist with tremendous business acumen and a track record of success in growing companies,” said Pamir Alpay, University of Connecticut’s Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, as well as one of the co-leads of the consortium. “I am very confident that we have found the right leader who will help QuantumCT make impactful contributions to Connecticut and beyond.”
QuantumCT is establishing the foundation for Connecticut to become a national hub for quantum technologies, leveraging cutting-edge research, industry engagement, and strategic partnerships to accelerate commercialization. University of Connecticut and Yale University are co-leaders on the partnership, which works with local and state government as well as some of the state’s most successful companies to help bolster Connecticut’s economic future.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Green as the inaugural President and CEO of QuantumCT,” said Mike Crair, co-principal investigator of QuantumCT and vice provost for research at Yale University. “Dr. Green’s extensive experience in leadership, technology, entrepreneurship and business development will be instrumental in guiding QuantumCT into the next phase of growth. Yale is proud to be a partner with the State of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut in this critical venture to advance quantum innovation, and we look forward to collaborating with Dr. Green to drive progress that broadly benefits industry, academia, and Connecticut’s community.”
Dr. Green has advocated nationally for advanced manufacturing, serving on a variety of boards and councils, including on U.S. Department of Commerce Manufacturing Council, which advises the U.S. Secretary of Commerce on government policies and programs that affect U.S. manufacturing and provides a forum for proposing solutions to industry-related problems. The Council also works to ensure that the United States remains the preeminent destination for investment in manufacturing throughout the world.
“Dr. Green is an important addition to the state’s thought leadership team on innovation and will play a key role in ensuring Connecticut takes full advantage of the economic opportunities quantum technologies present,” said Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner and Chief Innovation Officer Daniel O’Keefe. “Under Dr. Green’s leadership, QuantumCT will be a focal point for strengthening our innovation ecosystems and driving new economic growth in Connecticut.”
Dr. Green holds 26 patents in the areas of photonic systems, displays, and advanced materials. He holds a B.S. in Physics from The University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University.
