World Quantum Day Brings the Future to Families at the Connecticut Science Center
A new exhibit, hands-on demos, and interactions with STEM professionals spark curiosity and introduce families to quantum careers of the future
The Connecticut Science Center hosted its first-ever World Quantum Day celebration on Monday, April 14, welcoming 1,400 kids, students and families to explore the exciting world of quantum science through hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and face-to-face connections with real STEM professionals.
“Our mission is to create experiences that help young people explore our changing world through science—and inspire the future workforce,” said Kelsey Rogers, STEM Careers and Events Manager at the Connecticut Science Center. “World Quantum Day does exactly that by introducing children and families to a rapidly evolving field that’s already transforming medicine, cybersecurity, and beyond.”
The Science Center’s new event supports its growing partnership with QuantumCT, aiding the accelerator’s statewide mission to build a future-ready workforce by inspiring young people to consider careers in emerging quantum technologies. With additional support from the Yale Quantum Institute and the University of Connecticut, the World Quantum Day celebration made big ideas—like superposition and quantum entanglement—accessible, interactive, and fun for all ages.
”This is exactly the kind of hands-on engagement we need to spark curiosity and open doors to quantum careers,” said Albert Green, President and CEO at QuantumCT. “We’re a proud partner with the Connecticut Science Center to make this complex and exciting field real for students and families across the state. Events like this help build a more inclusive pipeline – and we welcome folks across education, industry and community to join us in shaping Connecticut’s quantum future.”
These family-friendly experiences will expand the Science Center’s capacity to connect Connecticut youth to the next frontier of scientific discovery and amplify QuantumCT’s message to a young audience.
